Meet Karen Cowan

With particular expertise in internal profiles, including women, girls, and individuals with AuDHD, Karen is familiar with and sensitive to nuanced, unobservable strengths and challenges.Â
A member of the British Psychological Society, Karen works with the full suite of gold-standard diagnostic tools, including ADOS-2, ADI-R, and ACIA. She blends clinical rigour with deep empathy, offering assessments grounded in evidence while honouring each person’s unique lived experience.
Karen’s clinical skill set compliments her autism assessment capabilities; as a certified DBT Skills Provider and a UCLA PEERS® Provider, she offers tailored pre- and post-diagnostic support. Her practice is grounded in professional depth, and a sincere belief in supporting clients as individuals.
Karen is also a Dyslexia Assessor(SpLD Levels 5 & 7), registered with SASC, a member of both the Dyslexia Guild and Patoss, and a committee member of a group of local Patoss assessors based in London.
Karen has delivered training to large organisations including NHS hospital teams, Apple Stores, management consultancies, independent and maintained schools - where she has delivered impactful training on autism and neurodiversity.
She led SEND provision at North London Collegiate School 6 years, and continues to train school leaders, psychologists, and health professionals on inclusive, neuroaffirmative practice.
Karen delivers training for the Autistic Girls Network and is a listed co-facilitator and speaker for the National Autistic Society.
